Tampa, Fla. – Tampa International Airport officially welcomed several news shops in the Main Terminal, as well as two new express spas at the airside terminals and its sixth and final Starbucks in the Red Baggage Claim area.
The new concepts are a part of a complete concessions redevelopment program that is bringing 69 new restaurants, bars, shops and services to TPA.
The Terminal Getaway Spas, located at Airsides A and C, are the first two of four locations to open and are a new amenity not previously offered at TPA. The spas offer manicures, pedicures and chair massage to guests looking to unwind before boarding call.
“We are thrilled to be opening four new Terminal Getaway Spa locations in Tampa as part of the airport’s nearly $1 billion facility expansion,” said Marko Iglendza, CEO and Founder of Terminal Getaway Spa. “As domestic travel rises and airports look to improve their guest experiences, our goal is to offer thoroughly relaxing massage services and both pampering, convenient nail services, all by extensively trained licensed technicians, in an authentic spa-like atmosphere. We are excited to bring our concept to the travelers of TPA.”
In the Main Terminal, Paradies Lagardère is now operating the centrally located and aesthetically pleasing Runway/PGA TOUR store and Tampa Life, a small shop with gifts, jewelry and other items that reflect the spirit of Tampa Bay.
“Tampa is a vibrant city with a rich cultural heritage. We sought to bring this into the airport through the Tampa Life concept. An homage to the internationally-renowned museums here in the city, Tampa Life will feature high-quality gifts and artwork, along with a showcase presentation featuring Salvador Dali,” said Gregg Paradies, president and CEO at Paradies Lagardère. “Paradies Lagardère is also excited to bring our Runway and PGA TOUR concepts into the airport. PGA TOUR will offer an impressive selection of golf gear, along with clothing and accessories from brands such as Nike and Adidas. Runway is a lifestyle destination concept for travelers living an active life at home or on the road – or who simply like to look the part and embrace the athleisure trend. The Runway store is the first of its kind, and we’re confident it will resonate with travelers.”
Adjacent to those stores are Mindworks and Tampa Bay Sports. Mindworks returns to TPA with interactive floor displays, games, puzzles, toys and other unique products for children of all ages.
“At Stellar, we are always searching for new ways to delight and engage the airport retail customer,” said Susan Stackhouse, founder and CEO of Stellar Partners. “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to add the Tampa Bay Sports interactive retail concept to our portfolio of outstanding local brands and introduce it to TPA, our hometown airport. We are also delighted to open our relocated Mindworks, a longtime TPA favorite for kids of all ages, now with exciting interactive store elements for today’s tech-savvy shopper.”
Tampa Bay Sports is expected to be a popular shop among visiting sports enthusiasts, and in particular, Tampa Bay Lightning fans.
“We are proud to be opening our third Tampa Bay Sports store at Tampa International Airport,” said Tampa Bay Sports and Entertainment CEO Steve Griggs. “Not only does this airport location give us a great brand extension opportunity, it offers us the chance to help welcome out of town guests for special events, like the upcoming NHL All-Star Weekend. We are grateful to the leadership at Stellar and at TIA for welcoming Tampa Bay Sports and the Tampa Bay Lightning to the main terminal.”
The Starbucks in Red Baggage Claim will provide a full menu of coffee drinks, teas, juices, pastries, sandwiches and other treats to arriving passengers looking for a familiar pick-me-up.
“HMSHost is very excited about opening Starbucks for Tampa International Airport travelers in the Main Terminal Baggage Claim area. We thank the airport for the opportunity to provide access to the preferred beverages and food that Starbucks is known for,” said HMSHost Vice President of Business Development Michael Price.
Tampa International Airport is now more than two-thirds of the way finished with the concessions redevelopment and will have all 69 concepts open and fully operational this year. The new options include a wider variety of choices than ever before, including more local brands. Roughly 40 percent of the food and beverages options are local, featuring such staples as Columbia, Cigar City, Four Green Fields, Buddy Brew and the Café by Mise en Place. Participation in the Airport Concessions Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (ACDBE) also increased from 3 companies to 15, bringing more woman- and minority-owned business to TPA.
